KITTEN TRAXX BANKED TRACK DESIGN & BUILD

Kitten Traxx was founded to redefine the banked track in the name of safety. I have a masters in architecture and five years "eyes on" experience watching how my design reacts to the hard hits that current roller derby skaters produce. Three years after building the LA Derby Dolls track with them, I found another group ready to build in Oklahoma City called the Red Dirt Rebellion Roller Girls. Working together they proved that anyone can build a Kitten Traxx as they built their track exceptionally fast. In 09 three other leagues have bought plans with their goal to be banked for the 2010 season. I am trying to standardize the modern track by being the front runner of track design. Currently there are 2 Kitten Traxx skate able in the country with 3 more coming in 2010. This means Kitten Traxx will be that standard. It is a fully portable track with an eye towards making it as easy as possible. It loads in within 4hrs and loads out within 3 hrs. with a crew of six into two 16 ft long Uhaul or Ryder Trucks.

I have been with the Los Angeles Derby Dolls from day one. The Derby Dolls were the 4th league in the current roller derby rebirth. TXRD was our role model so we just needed a banked track, and we found a 1970's issue old school track. After many injuries by the track to excellent players I realized that that old school track design was not safe enough for modern roller derby. With some trial and error I took what worked and redesigned what didn't. My motto while designing the first Kitten Traxx was, It is better to build a safe track than taking good skaters to the hospital.

	Kitten Traxx is by far the best track I have ever skated on and I have skated on several types of tracks. Other tracks have a lower angle and with out the kick rails built in. His design is the safest and the quality is outstanding. Not only are they easy to put together and take apart but the specifications and quality remains the same from track to track. 	WHAT WAS IT LIKE SKATING ON A Kitten Traxx? ELLEN PAGE: Intimidating because even before I started skating on the track you have to learn how to get on, how to get off, and how to feel comfortable on the highest part of the track. All of those things that become second nature eventually are really frightening at first. And then it’s funny because it’s become so second nature that when I’m skating on a flat surface now it feels strange to me. Recently I was in a roller rink for fun but it felt like something was missing because you don’t have that bank. Although at first it’s intimidating, there’s such a payoff because it adds such a exciting element to it all.
	Bitchy has taken banked track design to a new level. He is the only one who truly understands the sport and track well enough to incorporate improvements that really make each track he designs better than the last and exponentially better than anything that came before.
